Simple Steps to Reset cPanel File Manager

  1. Log in to your cPanel.
  2. Find the "File Manager" option and click on it. This will show all your existing files and folders.

  4. To view hidden files, go to the "Settings" option.
  5. Check the box that says "Show hidden files".
  6. Select all existing files and folders to begin the reset process.
  7. Click on "Select All".
  8. Click the "Delete" button.
  9. A confirmation popup will appear. If you don't need to use the recycle bin, you can skip it.
  10. Confirm the deletion.
  11. All files and folders will be deleted.
  12. Reload the page. Click on the "Reload" button. You might see folders named trash, cPanel, etc. These are used by cPanel for technical purposes.
  13. Upload the original cPanel files and folders to reset the File Manager. After uploading, you'll be able to use WordPress or run other websites.
  14. Click the "Upload" button.
  15. Select the file you want to upload and click "Open".
  16. The upload will complete.
  17. Reload the page again.
  18. Extract the zip folder. You don't need to select a directory; just enter a slash (/).
  19. Click the "Extract" button.
  20. You will now see the original files and folders of your cPanel.
  21. Check if your public_html folder is clickable. If it is, you've reset the File Manager correctly.
  22. Don't forget to delete the zip file once you're finished.
